Thank Yous Are a Must Following The Season of Giving

January 8, 2002 -- Fort Lauderdale, Fla. -- A thank you is the only way to show your true appreciation. Consider these simple and unique tokens of gratitude offered by Social Strategist Deborah Ritch:

  • Were you a guest at a holiday party that you still cannot stop talking about? Send a fresh flower arrangement to the host with a note of appreciation. It will show your sense of style and savoir-faire, and maybe even ensure a spot on next year's guest list.
  • A nice bottle of wine for your boss is a generous gesture of thanks for keeping spirits high throughout a tough year.
  • Create unique thank you cards with your kids that all recipients will enjoy. One is never too young to learn good manners. Using creativity to make thank yous a rule of the house is a great way to start a life-long habit of appreciation.
  • Plan a special day with a close friend to thank them for just being them. Whether a round of golf or a day at the spa, make certain to do something that you will both enjoy.
  • Prepare a quiet, candlelit dinner for your better half for making 2001 a year to remember.
  • Take the time to send a personalized, handwritten thank you. If the note is in response to a gift, acknowledge it by name, as well as the time and effort taken to make, select or wrap it. Also mention how you intend to use the gift.

"One who accepts the generosity of another without showing gratitude is unworthy of receiving more," said Deborah Ritch. "Do not forget to thank all of the individuals who have made 2001 a special year for you. A proper thank you shows your sincere appreciation, as well as your social sophistication and grace."
